David J. A. Hayes III is the Principal of The Hayes Law Group.  He has represented numerous pilots and mechanics as well as air carriers and other entities in variety of aviation-related matters.

Mr. Hayes is admitted to practice law in New York, Illinois, Missouri, and the District of Columbia. He advises clients on FAA enforcement matters, hazardous materials transportation matters, Pilot Records Improvement Act issues, and flight department operations.  He also works closely with Part 121 Air Carriers and Part 135 Certificate Holders on labor issues under the Railway Labor Act, acquisition of fleet aircraft, operations specifications questions, regulatory matters, insurance issues, and other operational and legal matters.

Mr. Hayes has experience as the Vice President & General Counsel of a national U. S. Airline.

Mr. Hayes presents at a number of aviation-related conferences and events where he discusses the FAA enforcement process and provides suggestions about how to avoid problems with the FAA.  He was a member of the Southern Illinois University Aviation Management and Flight faculty where he taught courses in aviation law and air transportation to on-campus and off-campus students.  His students in the Southern Illinois University off-campus program included returning professionals and military personnel at Chicago’s O’Hare Field, Jacksonville Naval Air Station - Florida and the Marine Corps Air Station in New River, North Carolina.  He also taught Aviation Law to students in the Central Missouri State University Masters Degree in Aviation Safety Program. 

Mr. Hayes is a graduate of the St. Louis University School of Law where he received a Certificate in Labor and Employment Law. He is a member of the American Bar Association, New York Bar Association, Missouri Bar Association, Illinois State Bar Association, District of Columbia Bar Association, and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association

Captain Hayes is also an Airline Transport Pilot and an active Embraer EMB-145 Captain for a National U.S. Airline. He also taught Aviation Law at Saint Louis University's Parks College of Aviation.
